The Zip Virtual card is only designed to be open for 14 days after purchase, so it's important to follow a few best practices when shopping online.
Major shopping websites allow you to save your card for later use. You may already have your personal card(s) saved at your favorite shopping websites. However, you should not save your Zip virtual card on any website. The virtual card number generated for your order is unique to that purchase.
If you've completed a Zip order and would like to place another one, you will need to make a new Purchase Request to generate a new virtual card--every time.
To ensure your Zip virtual card does not get declined:
- Always make a new Purchase Request for a new order, and...
- Be sure to include tax, shipping costs, and other fees in your Purchase Requests.
If your Zip virtual card is declined for any reason, some shopping websites may automatically switch to one of your other saved cards. If this happens, your order will not go through Zip and you will be charged for the full amount by the merchant.
Note: If you have saved any Zip virtual cards as a payment method to your shopping websites, remove them, as they will likely be declined if used for future purchases.
