If you do not make an installment payment on time, a late fee will be applied. Zip charges different amounts for late fees, depending on your state of residence ($5, $7 or $10). If you are charged a late fee and do not believe you should have been, please contact us and we will gladly look into the matter further for you.
Your installment payments are set to pay automatically on their set dates, so you don't have to worry about any manual work. Just make sure to have sufficient funds in your default card account to cover each upcoming installment payment. Zip sends SMS and email reminders before your installments are due, so you’ll have plenty of time to make sure you have enough funds.
Adding a secondary card
Should you prefer it, you may always save a secondary card on file as a "backup" payment method in case there are issues with your default card (you may add multiple "backup" cards, if you'd like).
With a secondary card, should an order installment charge to your default card fail for any reason, your secondary card can be charged on the same day, so you don't incur a late fee.
Note: If you do not want a different card charged in the event of your default card failing/being declined, you do are not obligated to add a secondary card to your account.
